WHAT IS A CALORIE DEFICIT
Weight loss occurs when the body undergoes a calorie deficit. The food you eat contains calories (kcal) which are forms of energy needed by the body to function normally. A calorie deficit happens when your body burns more calories than you consume. When this happens, your body is forced to burn body fat stored in your belly, waist, or thighs to make up for the deficit. As a result, weight loss occurs.
HOW MANY CALORIES DO I NEED PER DAY?
An adult male requires an average of 2,200 calories per day. On the other hand, an adult female requires an average of 1,800 calories per day. As you age, your metabolism and activity levels are reduced. Hence, your body requires fewer calories to maintain itself over time.
WAYS TO LOSE WEIGHT THROUGH CALORIE DEFICIT
Many of us are too busy or lack the motivation to exercise in order to lose weight. Alternatively, a calorie deficit can be achieved by replacing food items with lower calorie alternatives.
